Event Highlights

The LAW-GAME Final Event provided an immersive and insightful platform to showcase the innovative approaches developed for experiential training and crime prevention through gamification. Throughout the day, participants were introduced to the project’s key milestones and achievements, which focused on revolutionizing law enforcement training through digital gamification tools. The technical aspects of the LAW-GAME platform were demonstrated, including its design environment and modeling capabilities, highlighting how it transforms traditional training into interactive, scenario-based experiences.

The event saw the participation of various experts, including the Project Officer and two distinguished members of the Advisory Board—Dr. Jo Iacovides, Senior Lecturer at the University of York, whose research focuses on the intersection of human-computer interaction and educational technologies, and Philip Engström, Senior Research Coordinator at Linköping University, known for his expertise in simulation and training technologies. Their insights, alongside contributions from other key stakeholders, provided a comprehensive understanding of the potential impact of gamification on law enforcement training and crime prediction.

Live demonstrations of the LAW-GAME platform were a key highlight of the event, allowing participants to engage with real-time simulations and gain hands-on experience with the training modules. These demonstrations showcased how gamified training can significantly enhance decision-making, situational awareness, and the overall preparedness of law enforcement officers.

Law enforcement representatives who participated in the pilots shared valuable feedback about the platform’s effectiveness in practical scenarios, emphasizing the system’s ability to improve training outcomes and operational readiness. Ethical and regulatory aspects were also a focal point of discussion, particularly regarding the integration of AI in virtual training environments. Experts discussed the challenges and necessary frameworks to ensure that these technologies are deployed responsibly and sustainably.

The event also featured contributions from synergy projects, including the POLIIICE project represented by KEMEA (Center for Security Studies). This collaborative engagement highlighted the broader ecosystem of crime prevention technologies and the shared goals of enhancing law enforcement capabilities through innovative digital tools.

The day concluded with discussions on the future directions and sustainability of the LAW-GAME platform. Presentations focused on long-term strategies for expanding its use and ensuring its continued evolution to meet the needs of law enforcement agencies. The event underscored the platform’s potential to become a cornerstone in future crime prevention training efforts.

With 55 physical attendees and 30 online participants, the event successfully brought together a diverse audience of experts, end-users, and stakeholders to explore the future of gamification in crime prevention.
